So Much For Good Intentions

So much for good intentions...Almost two months since my last post. I am feeling really un-inspired today, but I thought...What the heck, I'm at work, I'm bored (as usual), might as well do something productive. Lots of Christmas stuff going on. I actually did most of my shopping ahead of time, so I just have a few last minute things to do today and tomorrow. Oh, with the rather glaring exception that Justin asked me to crochet a scarf for his mom's new husband, and I have two days to do that along with all the other stuff. We've got 5 Christmases to do this year, so the schedule is a little tight. Oh well, the more the merrier.

WHAT???

So, a few weeks ago I had my employee review. Apparently I am not answering the phone happily enough, or greeting the clients with enough friendliness when they come in. My boss told me that, get this, I should be more like a Hooter's girl. When I just looked at him, like, um, what? he said, "I don't care what you think about Hooters. Some of my friends' kids work at Hooters. Those girls are just like any other girls, just trying to make money, except they wear shorts to work instead of long pants." Yeah, right.

Love the Lovely Self Checkout

So, these new self checkout lanes...no one seems to truly appreciate them besides me. I've introduced a number of people to them, and everyone has had problems with them. However, I think they are one of the best inventions of our time. It's sad that people trained to work the checkout lane are so incompetent that I can check myself out more efficiently than they can, but unfortunately, that is the case. Not only am I faster than your average checkout lane employee, I do a far superior job of bagging as well. Thus, the self check out lane is a dream come true for me (literally as well as figuratively, as this is something I have dreamed of inventing myself).

Teeth, Fairies, Etc.

Big news everyone...Jordan got three new teeth this weekend! That brings the grand total up to 5. He's actually starting to get hair now too and he walks almost everywhere. I can't believe how big he's getting! Now if he would just outgrow his infant car seat carrier thing I could get him one of those car seats that you leave in the car and my back might recover from hauling him around in the carrier. Also the permanent bruises on my legs from the car seat slamming into them might heal.

I get the joy of planning Jordan's first birthday party now too. I think there are going to be about 30 people invited so it should be great fun. Luckily less than half of those are children, so while our house will be packed full, hopefully the level of destruction won't be too bad. Another exciting thing that I'm preparing for is Halloween. Months before Jordan was even born, Justin and I decided that we were going to take him trick-or-treating this year, even though he's far too young to eat candy. This way, we get to eat all of it. Selfish? Yes. Do I care? NO.

Update

I suppose it's time for an update. Even Heather has updated her blog, so I know I am falling behind. I was going to say that not too much has been happening, but that isn't entirely true. The reception, as I'm sure all of you know, went off smashingly...although I didn't get to spend as much time with my friends (that means ya'll) as I would have liked. Oh well...I'm sure I will see you all again someday. (Heather I hear you're planning a little trip, and I was thinking, maybe I can swing it). Justin and I got a lot of fun presents for our reception, so that was cool. (And thank you notes will be out any day now, really, just need to buy some, write 'em all out, get stamps, and then drop them in the mail box, no sweat).

Work Fun

So, Clare mentioned work meetings...let me tell you, those are some fun things. Here at my job, we have meeting after meeting after meeting, most of which are spent discussing how far behind we are and how much we have to get done. Now, I may not be the smartest person on earth, but I THINK actually doing the work instead of having meetings about the work would result in it getting done much faster.

The other thing about these meetings is that I have to go to all of them. Now I don't have a huge backlog of important work sitting at my desk just waiting to be finished, so I don't really care, but I do have things I could be doing. And not having any background in accounting, I have little to no idea what is being discussed. So, I just sit there, doodling in my beautiful spiral notebook that I ordered for myself last time I ordered copy paper, and wait for someone to say, "Oh Hannah could do that," and then try to figure out what it is I'm supposed to do. There is always so much joy at work.

Ewww

I am officially the most disgusting person on earth. First off, for reasons I will not go into detail about, I had to have a sigmoidoscopy yesterday. For those unfamiliar with the procedure (and for your sake, I hope that includes all of you), it basically entails having a (very small) camera shoved up your backside, completely un-anesthetized. They say you will experience no pain or perhaps mild cramping. In truth, it felt like I was having a pipe jammed into my stomach. Also, the procedure was supposed to take 10 minutes and took at least twice that long. During those 20 minutes I was continually asked if I was OK, as if that was really an option, or they would stop if I said no. Is anyone who is crying silently and whimpering and cringing continually likely to be "OK"? I think not.

Here Comes the Bride

DaDumDaDum...guess what all...I am now officially married!!! And yes, I did change my name. I'm Mrs. Disch now. Craziness. The wedding was really nice, and I actually felt pretty. Justin was winking at me during the ceremony because he said I looked sad. I did feel like I was going to cry, but not because I was sad. I think I was happy and in shock all at once. And believe it or not, I was about 10 minutes late getting to the church. I guess that'll happen when you have a kid to get ready as well as yourself. But I guess Justin wasn't too worried that I wouldn't show up. He just kept asking people where he son was. What about his bride?!?

Happy V-Day

Well, well well...happy Valentines Day to all and sundry. I have long held to the belief that Valentines Day was a cynical marketing ploy designed to humiliate those of us who weren't in a relationship and up the price of Hallmark stock, but now that I am not alone I am slightly less cynical. Granted, I still haven't gotten a V-day present, but the day is not yet over and I still have hope. Well, actually I did get a really nice card and some candy from my sister (who got a can of soup from me, but she liked it, really) but that's not the present I mean.

On another note, I know every parent thinks their child is the smartest and cutest child in the whole world, but Jordan really is (and the strongest too). He has been able to hold his head up since the day he was born. If I lay him on a pillow, he literally does sit ups. He watches TV, especially HGTV (and sports as well, I'm afraid). He "talks" to anyone who will pay the slightest bit of attention to him and has done this since day one. My own parents, experts by virtue of having had 9 children, think he is extraordinary and acts more like a 6 month old than a 2 month old. And there is no denying that he is the cutest baby of all time, after all, he is my son, and have you seen his pictures?!?
